Bangalore has more than 400 practicing ophthalmologists. There are around 50 of them, who are regularly practicing and offering cataract surgery services to the patients. We are providing a list of doctors based on the selection criteria given below, we are trying you offer a list of surgeons providing quality cataract surgery services. it is based on intensive online search of information available about hospitals/clinics/ doctors/procedures in the public domain. its possible we have missed a surgeon who deserves to be on the list. you can comment below and let us know so that we can improve.

Qualifications

We included ophthalmologist surgeons ( having MS or DOMS  in ophthalmology ) Since its a specialty surgery, we did not include practitioners who have only MBBS, BDS, and BASM degree in this list.

Area of interest

Most Ophthalmologists have their specific areas of interest like Cataract surgery, retina surgery, cornea surgery, refractive surgery, glaucoma, etc.. We did not include those which did not have cataract surgery as their core area of interest. So, it is quite likely we have missed a few doctors who are doing cataract surgery along with other specialties. You can suggest to us the names if you want them to be included in the list.

Surgical technique

Phacoemulsification is the most commonly performed technique. We have also included in the list who are offering Lasik laser-assisted cataract surgery ( robotic cataract surgery) and SICS surgery.

Experience

Most of the surgeons included in the list are experienced surgeons in their field with more than 10 yrs experience in this field. but there are few notable exceptions with less than 5 years of experience. they were included because they were meeting all the request criteria for inclusion

Hospitals

Most of the eye hospital and clinic are stand-alone speciality eye care hospitals and clinic. The hospital/clinic is run by doctors having post-graduation degrees in ophthalmology were included in the list. Moreover, only those with an appropriate degree and who were actively engaged in the practice if cataract surgery were included. Hospitals/clinics and clinics which do not have a full-time association with surgeons were not considered to be included in the list.

Reviews and rating

Medical association sites, Social media sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and review sites like google and Practo were used to get signals of validation of qualification, experience, and patient experience. These are not 100 % accurate ways to access information but these are the best available options. The list does not intend to claim or guarantee/predict the outcome of the procedure being done at these facilities. It is only an attempt to simplify the availability of information and assist in decision making.
