Our Organisation and our brand

Nandadeep Netralay was founded by Dr Dileep Chintaman Patwardhan in a small rented place in south shivajinagar, Sangli in 1980.

With no money to support,he had to visit many surrounding towns for work. In initial years he used to work 24 hours and 7 days a week. Due to his surgical prowess and compassionate service he became a popular doctor amongst masses.

In 1983 he started implanting Intraocular lenses, one of the first few to start. He started doing microsurgeries with use of microscope.

In 1990 he purchased Yag Laser and automated perimeter, which was a rarity even in metro cities.

In 1995 Dr.Mrs.Madhavi Patwardhan joined him after completing DOMS. She realised the dangers of Diabetic retinopathy looming large and started the work of creating awareness among patients and public. She specialised in diabetic retinopathy and medical lasers.

In 1996 Nandadeep acquired ‘Legacy’ a state of art Phacoemulsification machine which at that time was only available in mumbai. Dr Dilip Patwardhan was one of the pioneers in Phacoemulsification technology in this area.

Cataract surgery is  the most commonly performed surgery in ophthalmology, and   all ophthalmologists are expected to be reasonably proficient in this surgery at the end of their training. The need for better curriculum and well-structured goals for surgical training during residency training cannot be overemphasized.
