I joined the training in June, and it was a good experience. I feel that I can now attempt the phaco in my patients independently. There certain pros and cons of phaco training at lahan which I would like to share. It bases on my experience , so may not be shared by others. PROS 1. There is no shortage of patients for trainee surgeon as they have multiple satellite hospitals, and that lace does not have any shortage of charity patients even in summers. 2. Trainee surgeon were well trained in phaco , most had already done many thousands of phaco cases. 3. Place is very economic. If you going from plains, that it’s very beautiful as well. CONS 1. I was experienced in SICS, so I have not much issue in catching the things, but those who have problems with steps like making rhexis or globe handling were having hard time. Training surgeon shows lesser interest if have not already done many cases. So avoid going to training before been well versed with SICS. 2. Every training surgeon had its style, they. Do not have a standard training format so that everyone teaches the same. 3. Training surgeon first priority is to finish his/her OT than train you so be ready to stand in OT and wait. 4. It cheap but not much to do around .plus transport is an issue.
