It usually does not get you a mentor as the trainer is often a very busy surgeon , who often does socialize with trainees after the training.
The training gives you some understanding of trends in the various Lasik machines available in market. so if you planning to have one, training might help you to choose the correct one.
The training also gives you the idea of other requirements like support staff in Lasik practice.
All the centers have FDA approved machines and the trainers are fellowship trained.
the courses are designed an per requirement of the trainee candidates.
The trainee surgeon has to be registered with Medical Council of India, before the start of the training, which is an important issue, if you are not an Indian citizen. Most of the training centers which accept foreign nationals, facilitate the MCI registration of the candidate before the training.

The eye care centers which have reasonable inflow of patients for Lasik procedure and having multiple Lasik surgeons/machines offer training courses to the ophthalmologists.
There are no government/institutional guidelines for the Lasik laser courses or training Centers.

Most of the centers also offer accommodation and travel assistance to the candidates.
The course fee is variable and differs from center to center , duration of the course , number of hands on cases allotted to the trainee. As per prevailing rates, the course fee can be estimated as (15K-20K INR) per eye given to the trainee. Trainee gets around one to two ( max) eyes per day. If you have chosen four cases , the training will last around four days and fee will be around 80K INR.
Final amount may be more as GST and other taxes are applicable.
Travel and stay has to be separate;y arranged , which is significant cost, as the training last for many days.
If you are not an Indian citizen than MCI Registration will be separately charged by the organizers.
Temporary Registration for Foreign Nationals for Undergoing Postgraduate Medical Course in India is 5000 INR.
