Glaucoma Shunt/Valve surgery
One type of incisional glaucoma surgery uses a tube shunt, which is a flexible glaucoma drainage device that is implanted in the eye to divert aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye) from the inside of the eye to an external reservoir.
Cyclodestruction procedures aim to decrease intraocular pressure (IOP) by decreasing production of aqueous humor by the ciliary body (specifically the ciliary processes). There are 3 basic approaches to cyclodestruction (which some prefer to call cycloablation).
